FMR has received nominations in eight separate categories for the 2012 Lammy Awards

Fogs’ Movie Reviews has received the following nominations for the 2012 Lammys (the official annual awards of the Large Association of Movie Blogs):

Best Community Builder
Funniest Blog
Best Podcast
Most Prolific
Best Reviewer
Best Running Feature (MTESS)
Best New Lamb
Best Blog

It’s overwhelming.

Honestly, any of you that have hung around here for any length of time know that humility isn’t exactly my strong suit, but this type of thing will humble you up, quick.

I want to thank all of the LAMB members who nominated me in any of those categories. From what I’ve heard, 86 LAMB members posted their nominations, covering a field of 1,200+ movie related blogs that belong to the Association. I consider it an incredible honor to be considered in so many categories, especially seeing as it’s movie bloggers themselves doing the selecting.

I put a lot into this site… I’ve really taken up the challenge of trying to build a great blog and a great place for people to read about and discuss movies. This kind of response just… is SO rewarding. It really, truly makes all the hard work worthwhile. This is why I suck it up and slug through all the crappy flicks, and put in all the hours doing the behind the scenes stuff that no one sees, or put in so much time at the keyboard in general.

Because you folks – the FMR readers – keep giving me positive feedback in many, many ways. I cant thank you enough.

I still need to get my feet under me a little, and then I’m going to figure out how to go about campaigning for this. Obviously, for any fellow Lammies reading this, I’d appreciate your votes come voting time. I have a lot of chances to win now, but I’d still like to actually bring someΒ awards back for all of us here. So be patient with me please over the next few weeks. I imagine that this will probably disrupt things a little. At the very least, there will probably be some degree of campaigning mixed in amongst the content.

Congratulations to all my fellow Lammies who also received nominations and once again, thank you very much to everyone who nominated me. I’m really, really honored and flattered by this…

Now I’m going to see where it goes, and hopefully we’ll all be celebrating some Lammys here in a couple of weeks!! πŸ˜€

  1. Obviously I deserve to win all those categories [*] but since you got nominated instead of me, good luck bro

[*] just kidding obviously, you deserve those awards more than me πŸ˜€

(If you don’t win, I’m going on strike!)

    • HA!! πŸ˜€

I dont know about deserving to win more than anyone else or anything, but I certainly appreciate the humor, and the good wishes. πŸ˜€

I dont want to be responsible for anyone going on strike though! I’m gonna soldier on regardless of what happens, and I’m sure you will too. LOL!

      • Come on, you write about the James Bond and the Chick Flicks, of course you have to win!

On a side-note, I do think “Best Running Feature” misleads people into thinking that this blog contains tips on exercise…

      • Hahaha!!! You’re killin’ me today!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Yeah, that WOULD be misleading. LOL. You’re not getting that HERE, thats for sure. I aint running anywhere! LOL

    • I dont know, I’ll let you know when I “Get there” πŸ˜€

Seriously, this is still the “When” I mean, there’s still a couple of weeks before the blog turns 1… I dont know Ric, I’m stunned really is the best word for it. Its got me discombobulated. LOL

Which is a real word, by the way. LOL, I just looked it up!

      • I hear ya man! When you are authentic and do what we do for the love, it seems a bit surreal to address accolades relating to it.

If it ever happened to me I would likely be just as discombobulated and so I pat you on the back and say,

    • LOL. Snnnngggtttt…

Seriously. I did feel a little like Sally Field yesterday thats for sure. There may yet be a blubbering at the podium, too, we’ll have to see if I actually win any of them first though! πŸ˜€

    • Thanks brother…

Not happy to be up against you and Phobos in the funniest category though. LOL… Eesh. Maybe we could do some kind of cross promotional tie in. Phobos recommended a duel, but I dont want to get booed off the stage. LOL

      • Ving Rhames once refused his golden globe award and gave it to Jack Lemmon. We expect no less than the same treatment. Actually we’re just having fun with this stuff anyways. I promise there will be no hurt feelings because deep down you know we’re funnier than you!

      • …. (Fumbling for a refutation…)

        Yeah, well, whatever man, maybe.

But you should lay off the acid if you think I would abdicate a Lammy for anyone. LOL. πŸ˜€

  2. I’m surprised they haven’t accused you of stuffing the ballot box! But seriously, this isn’t too surprising, you’ve got the Chops! I feel the “Best Running Feature” is “tossing it out there”. That’s what gets everyone’s juices flowing. MTESS is you’re best written feature. Professionally researched, expertly written. The time and effort show on the page! And now on to the red carpet! Hazzah!

    • Heh. That’s right, isnt it? There would be some kind of Red Carpet thing in between nominations and presentations. LOL I’ll be damned, that would be cool! πŸ˜€

And nah, no stuffing the ballot box possibilities on this one. They monitor and control the voting pretty closely. Basically you have to sign your ballot with your blog name and ID #. Closed to Lammies only.

Thanks for the support, I definitely appreciate it. I’m hoping that the MTESS series takes home the gold, for sure. That’s my pride and joy, you know? πŸ˜€

  3. AWESOME!!! congratulations Fogs’! Well deserved nominations! And Best Community Builder is an great one that I absolutely agree with. You always have tons upon tons of comments. The Comment King!

    Congrats again man.

    • Heh… thanks for noticing. Yeah, love to build discussion here, that’s for sure.

That’s gonna be a tough category though… up against three Lamb heavyweights, The Shepherd himself, Mr Joel Burman, Never too Early Movie Predictions – Mr Lamb Welcoming Comittee, and and Man I Love Films. Mr Lamb founder himself, Dylan Fields. So yeah. Pushovers…

It gets easier after that though. LOL No biggie. Just Anomalous Materials rounding out the field. Captain Castor.

Should be a piece of cake. Yeah. LOL!!!

  4. Well done Fogs!
We see your hardwork everyday both here and comments on other blogs.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks S. I appreciate it. A lot of the thanks goes to people like you who come all the time and help keep the discussions here lively. The commenting activity is what gets us noticied here, and that leads to a lot of the other recognition…

I’m gonna have my fingers crossed too. It’s gonna be an anxious few weeks as I go through this process. I wold really, really, really like to win some of these… πŸ˜€

  5. Nice job Dan! I do think there should some sort of nod for the most educational sight. I was thinking about it…..I have learned about a lot of stuff at FMR: CGI, the 4th wall, HTML (who knew!), hell, if I am being honest….I had to look up the word prolific. πŸ˜‰

Seriously, congrats! — from one of your many loyal chicks fans πŸ™‚

    • πŸ˜€

I think they have a “Brainiac Award”, but I’m not a good fit for that one. I think I’ll be contented with all of the nods I DID get! πŸ˜€

And thanks Debbie, I try not to be chick friendly around here. It’s tough sometimes though, to cater to the feminine perspectives, etc… Thanks for bearing with me through it!

      • should have read:
Seriously, congrats! β€” from one of your many loyal chicks fans πŸ˜€
        I better keep practicing.

    • Oh. I am the KING of losing disgracefully. πŸ˜€ Did you happen to catch my “Concession Speech” on our 80s draft? Totally shameful. LOL. πŸ˜€

      We’ll work something out.

  7. “Obligatory good job! comment” LOL Now let’s see if you can win some of these! πŸ˜‰ FMR is the best blog ever!

    • Ohhh shit! Best. Blog. Ever. I like that one! πŸ˜€

Thank you for your “Obligatory good job! comment” Blain, I, of course, will respond with an “Obligatory Thank you! Response” πŸ˜€

Gonna be a long way to go, but it’s going to be a lot of fun. Hectic. Some serious effort coming up. But its a ton of fun being a part of it, and lets see how it turns out!

  8. Didn’t I tell you you’d get a handful of noms! So happy for you. You’ve done such good work here and, in fact, introduced me to the whole world of movie blogs. You have done excellent work!

    • Awwww shucks. Thanks Jaina!! (I literally just said “shucks”)

I had hoped I’d do well, I didn’t know I’d show up in all those ctaegories!

Still a long way to go. I’d hate to have all these chances and then not win anything, that would be heartbreaking. But we’re off to a good start, thats for certain! πŸ˜€

    • 8 for 8 baby. We’re gonna make it happen somehow.

I need a slogan to push that across. “All 8 would be great” “Its never too late to vote for all 8″… something. I’ll work on it.

  9. Congrats to you, Dan. You’re very deserving of all awards for your dedication and hard work. Sooooo proud of youi!!!!

  10. Congrats, I know I contributed to several of those nominations. Though being on the final ballot in so many places might hurt your chances a little since your votes will get split up. I’d suggest figuring out which one(s) you want the most and campaign for those.

Oh, and thanks for not being a sci-fi or horror blog or I never would have made it on the ballot πŸ˜‰

    • Yeah, in all honesty, that’s a big concern – the split vote. I’ve given some thought to that, but I’m still not sure I want to turn my nose up at any of the categories, you know?

I may just do one post per category explaining why I think I should get people’s votes, link to all the other candidates and let the chips fall where they may.

I dont want to exclude the possibility of the landslide, either. Aiming low isnt in my philosophy here, so I think I should be consistent.

You are right though, its definitely a strategic consideration
