FMR has received nominations in eight separate categories for the 2012 Lammy Awards

Fogs’ Movie Reviews has received the following nominations for the 2012 Lammys (the official annual awards of the Large Association of Movie Blogs):

Best Community Builder
Funniest Blog
Best Podcast
Most Prolific
Best Reviewer
Best Running Feature (MTESS)
Best New Lamb
Best Blog

It’s overwhelming.

Honestly, any of you that have hung around here for any length of time know that humility isn’t exactly my strong suit, but this type of thing will humble you up, quick.

I want to thank all of the LAMB members who nominated me in any of those categories. From what I’ve heard, 86 LAMB members posted their nominations, covering a field of 1,200+ movie related blogs that belong to the Association. I consider it an incredible honor to be considered in so many categories, especially seeing as it’s movie bloggers themselves doing the selecting.

I put a lot into this site… I’ve really taken up the challenge of trying to build a great blog and a great place for people to read about and discuss movies. This kind of response just… is SO rewarding. It really, truly makes all the hard work worthwhile. This is why I suck it up and slug through all the crappy flicks, and put in all the hours doing the behind the scenes stuff that no one sees, or put in so much time at the keyboard in general.

Because you folks – the FMR readers – keep giving me positive feedback in many, many ways. I cant thank you enough.

I still need to get my feet under me a little, and then I’m going to figure out how to go about campaigning for this. Obviously, for any fellow Lammies reading this, I’d appreciate your votes come voting time. I have a lot of chances to win now, but I’d still like to actually bring someΒ awards back for all of us here. So be patient with me please over the next few weeks. I imagine that this will probably disrupt things a little. At the very least, there will probably be some degree of campaigning mixed in amongst the content.

Congratulations to all my fellow Lammies who also received nominations and once again, thank you very much to everyone who nominated me. I’m really, really honored and flattered by this…

Now I’m going to see where it goes, and hopefully we’ll all be celebrating some Lammys here in a couple of weeks!! πŸ˜€

  1. “I dont want to exclude the possibility of the landslide, either. Aiming low isnt in my philosophy here, so I think I should be consistent.”

I really like this attitude and to be fair a lot of new lambs has a slightly cockier attitude towards the LAMMYs which I think is a great thing. Awesome work and these nominations are proof of how successful you actually are within our community. I’m glad to have you both in the LAMB and our Pod network…

Now you just need to get your hands of my community builder trophy… hahah

    • OHHHH Man!!

Now, its too bad that in my Community Building Category strategy I’ve decided to play nice and show off my community building spirit. I plan to restrict my “Smear Campaign” to the “Funniest” Category.

Cause this would be perfect smear material:

“Hands off MY Community Builder Trophy” – Joel Burman.

And yeah, I guess I should just be myself and keep my cocky attitude in tact LOL.

      • I actually think it would be kind of funny if all the Community Builders went for the negative campaigns. Our collective motto could be “We built this community, and we can just as easily tear it down.” Hahahah

    • Heh. Well, dominating might be one word for it I guess.

I just look forward to having multiple opportunities to register some victories. πŸ˜€

Thanks Bonjour, though. I appreciate it! πŸ˜€

  2. Fogs….way to go! The blog is wonderful and it’s nice to know that othere people recognize that.

Of course, at the same time I am reminded of Woody Allen’s line in Annie Hall – “… That’s all they do in this town…give out awards….ahhhhh, best fascist dictator…Adolph Hitler….”

    But seriously…well done Bro…

    • Yeah, well, unlike Mr Allen, I am fond of award competitions and would be happy to attend and accept if I were so honored. LOL

πŸ˜€ Good to see you commenting though, been awhile.

Is this all I gotta do? Get nommed for 8 Lammys? I’ll keep that in mind! LOL

  3. Hurray! Really proud of you man. You’ve been doing great work and this recognition is confirmation of that!

As far as I can tell, the only other blogs in the history of the LAMMYs to have gotten eight nominations in a single year are: The Matinee, Anomalous Material, Blog Cabins and Final Girl, so I think it’s fair to say that you joined a pretty elite club this week!

    • Yessss… NTEMP, Lammy Historian. Love it. Fits right in with your image bro. πŸ˜€

I was tweeting with Ryan from The Matinee – he was nominated for seven again this year. Good grief. He put together a landslide of wins last year, too. I think he won five or six out of the eight!

I think I’m going to specifically campaign against him – “The Matinee: He already has his” LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  4. Impressive list of nominations. I’m already happy with the one I got, so you must be over the moon about this. Congratulations!

    • Yeah, I saw that Nostra. Stopped by to tip the cap this morning πŸ˜€

“Over the Moon” is just about right. It’s pretty unbelieveable. We’ll see how it goes, but hopes are high for actually winning some of these now. I mean, just getting nominated in so many categories is a treat in and of itself! πŸ˜€

Thanks for the congrats, and best of luck in the blogathon category!

  5. Great news! Much deserved i must say πŸ™‚ I’ve nearly been established for three months now so i’m going to try and get involved with LAMB in the near future. Again, many congrats. Fingers crossed for you!

    • Awesome, Terry. That’s good news!

Seriously? If you’re just starting up, joining the Lamb is like the best thing you can do. Its a great place for tips and advice, and a really big network of other bloggers to connect with. Lammys aside – I’m a big fan of that place, and I hope you’ll join in. Trust me, it’ll be really beneficial.

Anyways, thanks man. Hoping. You know?

  6. Eight potential trophies! You wouldn’t midn leaving one of them for me, would you?
It’s awesome, honestly. Has ever someone who is eligible for best new lamb also been nominated in seven other categories? Quite an achievement.

    • LOL – Are you referring to “Best New Lamb”? πŸ˜€ Congratulations on your nomination, too BTW!

I wouldnt know about the new lamb getting so many noms, like you, I’m still new! It definitely does feel like an achievement, I’m really really honored. πŸ˜€

      Good luck Jess, and thanks!!

    • I do too! LOL I just dont quite know what they are yet.

I have to say though, one of the things that offsets my enjoyment is a lot of the Lammies I voted for didnt make the nominations… I voted for TWS in multiple categories Eric. I would have liked to see you there campaigning and stuff now too.

Next year we gotta get you lobbying for votes and stuff, your site should be contending, man!

      • I appreciate it, man. I would have loved to get nominated for something, but hey, there was stiff competition everywhere. I can’t complain about any of the blogs nominated. Maybe next year!

    • Well, I guess that’s the hope more than anything isn’t it? The awards and whatnot are nice, but they’re really just an opportunity to showcase your site and hopefully find some new ways to connect with other movie fans.

I believe congratualtions are in order for you as well, right? What did you get? FIVE? LOL. Not too shabby either. πŸ˜‰

Hey in two of the categories we’re not squaring off, so BEST of luck there. LOL. You know, in the others, just regular old good luck. πŸ˜€

  7. Congrats on your many nominations which are all well deserved. I have watched this blog grow over the past year and it’s definitely been very impressive to see the community build day after day. Keep up the good work Dan πŸ˜€

    • Thanks Cap! You know I wll.

Congrats to AM, too. I know you were well represented on my ballot, so it was nice to see you guys named so many times as well! Good luck going forward with ’em, you guys are the best.

    • LOL….

I believe you just led the oldest school way back reference possible with a written Tony Montana impression?

There aren’t enough points on the board to award you for that comment. LOL πŸ˜€ HAA!!

  8. Dan…I know I’ve already given you kudos on your FB page, however, I thought I’d stop by here and tell you again! Congrats on your noms, you are very talented & deserving! & I CAN say I knew you when LOL! Keep being awesome!

    • Kim, you’ve been awesome supporting me here. Seriously… it takes a lot of energy to keep the site cranking at the level that it is, and where I get it from is all the positive feedback, and the fact that I know people are visiting, and reading, etc…

You’re leading the charge, you really have been. It’s great. πŸ˜€

Will I win some? I dont know. I hope so. But I’ll tell you this. I’m gonna “Max it out” along the way… play it up to the fullest and leave nothing in the tank.

That way no matter what I can look back with no regrets and say it was fun regardless.
