What’s going on, people?
The other day, a spam comment found its way through the filters and awaited moderation on my Chick Flick City “Steel Magnolias” post. It was spam, and wound up in the trash, but it did bring me back to Chick Flick City. I was shocked to find that it had been over a year since I did the last one (Dec, 2011). 😯
So, with nothing else goofy looming on the horizon here, I decided to resurrect the series. Yup, heading back to Chick Flick City.
For those of you who don’t know, Chick Flick City is a series where I brave the movies that most men would rather jump off of a bridge than watch… those flicks where any testosterone-abled man writhes in discomfort just thinking about them. I post a running commentary as I watch (a la my recent Twilight marathon) and post for your reading enjoyment.
To mark my return, I selected ten chick flicks I’ve never seen. The poll will run for a week and the top two choices will get their day in the sun here over the next month or so. You can make two choices, and base it on any criteria you like. Actually a fan of one or more of these films, and hoping I’ll enjoy them? Great! Love
watching reading me suffer, and want to pick the worst ones you can? That’s fine too. It’s all in good fun.
So have at it! My first stops in my return to Chick Flick City are up to you!
[Check out previous stops! Steel Magnolias, The Notebook, Bridget Jones’ Diary]
the things you do Fogs!? I wouldn’t watch any of these. but as many commenter have said you can do anything after Twilight.
It’s true. Gonna take me a long time to find a stunt that’s going to top that one. LOL 😀
If I recall The Proposal wasn’t bad for this sort of thing, maybe worth considering.
Oh man, I didn’t even know Chick Flick City was a thing. I haven’t seen any of these, thankfully, but I voted for Sex & the City and Beaches based on what I’ve heard about them. Bet those would make for entertaining reads. 🙂
I’ve disovered through this process that somehow “Sex in the City” is the one I’m dreading the most. I’ve checked the results a couple of times and realized I was actively rooting for “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” to mount a comeback for second place. LOL Now there’s a phrase I never thought I’d say! LOL 😯
That’s only because you haven’t seen Mamma Mia though. *be afraid, be very afraid*
LOL. I’ll take that under advisement, but from it’s showing here, it doesnt look as if I need to be worried about having to watch it anytime soon!

Notting Hill is almost not even a chick flick. Definitely entertaining. Great performance from Rhys Ifans!
Well now THAT’S an encouraging comment. Whoo hoo. Especially since I’m going to be visiting Notting Hill for sure now. 😀
Nice to hear I wont be miserable. LOL
I voted. You can thank me (or curse me) later!
By the way, it’s “Divine SecretS (plural) Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood”. That’s right: There’s more than one secret for you to discover!!!
I thought this important information might help you in making your final decision. 😉
LOL. Thanks. And thanks for voting. I can’t believe a typo got this far through the process, normally people hop all over that stuff right away!
Their secrets shall have to await another day, however. Today I closed the poll, so it looks as if it will formally be Notting HIll and Sex in the City 😯
So wait, Which Little Women? ‘Cause there are three. This is a fun idea, although you need some better chick flick fare.Maybe you’ve seen all the good ones already? Anyway, if you ever get around to the Little Women idea again, here’s my “Comparison Shopping” post for reference (hint: you want the Katharine Hepburn one.): http://wp.me/pYcxP-nF
Well, this poll’s closed, for now anyways, sorry to say. Notting HIll (already posted) and Sex in the City (still to come) were victorious. 🙄 LOL
So far I did Steel Magnolias, The Notebook, Bridget Jones’ Diary and Notting Hill in this series. Maybe one other one, too, I cant recall.
Had it won, I would have gone with the modern “Little Women”, though 😦 That was the one included here.
I read the Notting Hill review. One of my favorites. Perhaps you really DO have to be a chick…? 🙂
LOL. Yes, I do think so. 😀
Of course, thats where the humor of the series derives from. Its sort of the reviewing version of a “Fish out of water” 😉
How about a more dude-centric “chick flick,” like, say, The Wedding Singer? Another fave.
Nah, I wasnt a huge fan of that one. It had its moments, but…
Back when this all started, it was basically to strengthen up my Chick Flick resume in terms of movies I’ve seen. I’d been avoiding them pre-blog, but once I started blogging, I needed to… well, I was expected to have seen almost everything, you know? LOL. And I got tired of saying “havent seen that” to Chick Flicks, so.
Movies like Wedding Singer, which are pretty mainstream Ive got a good handle on 😉
