Ok, everyone, here we go! Once again, Fogs flirts with folly, as I decide to live on the wild side and open this thread up to people link dumping and plugging their own sites!
In light of my second straight nomination for Best Community Builder, and stolen from following 3Guys1Movie’s last “Hump Day Have Your Say” topic, where they courted links andย requested blog recommendations, I felt it might be a good idea to do some community building and let bloggers haveย a chance to tout their own sites. Hopefully, it will give us all a chance to find some more blogs and get to know each other a little better.
Could this blow up in my face? Yesssss, yes, it could. LOL ๐ I can easily think of three or four ways this could wind up in disaster.
Here’s the catch! If you drop a link to your blog (and you can be as verbose as you like in trying to entice visitors) YOU HAVE TO BE ON YOUR HONOR YOU WILL VISIT ANOTHER BLOG POSTED HERE! (Preferably one you’ve neverย visited before.)ย I think it’s only fair, and if we put that in place, it will up the chance of people actually visiting others, and seeing some actual referals out of this!
Now, for those of you who don’t blog, this will be a fine opportunity for you to find other blogs and see what they’re all about. Feel free to comment on any comments that you like, but please, let’s be supportive, ok? ๐
So! Let’s hear it. Tell us about your blog. Drop a link to your favorite article, or your homepage. Tell us why you started blogging, or why you keep blogging, or what you hate about blogging, it’s up to you. Dont say anything, and just dump a link! That’s fine too. For everyone that reads and visits, let’s show that FMR Community spirit by taking a minute and clicking through and visiting some new folks!
Ok, that’s it! Let’s have at it! Plug your blog!

We gotta get a post out of you for here! You and I havent connected on a readers recommendation yet, so…
It’d have to be a big movie though. I’m a shameless populist (if you havent figured out), so itd have to be something high profile!

well Jack that answers my question about why I could never find your blog. ๐
Sweet post, Fogs! And good luck at the Lammys!
Hey guys! My blog is called Cinema Train. I’d be honored if you dropped by and let me know what you think of it. Here’s a link to my review of my favorite Wes Anderson film, Fantastic Mr. Fox:
http://cinematrain.wordpress.com/2013/02/15/fantastic-mr-fox/
Thanks Garrett, be sure to swing a vote or two my way, will ya? ๐ ๐
Fantastic Mr Fox is a great movie, a great flick to choose to link to. ๐ I prefer Rushmore myself, though, if we were going to pick favorite Wes Anderson movies.
Be sure to stop by some other blogs here, and I hope some new visitors swing your way! ๐
I’ve got you covered on the votes. I’m defintiely planning on sending a few your way! ๐
I’ve been checking several blogs out from the comments section here, too. It’s always fun finding new movie blogs to follow.
I’m glad you agree with me about Fantastic Mr. Fox. It may be favorite Anderson because it was my first one to see, but who knows? I enjoy Rushmore as well. In my opinion, the man hasn’t made a bad film yet.
It’s true, I’ve enjoyed them all… but I havent seen “Bottle Rocket” yet.
Thanks for joining in today, Garrett. Glad to hear you checked out some other blogs posted here, that’s awesome man. And thanks for the support on the Lammys! ๐
Thanks for giving us a chance to plug our blogs! ๐ My blog’s name is Box Office Buzz at http://boxofficebuzzab.wordpress.com. I’ve been blogging for about a year and a half and I write mostly about movies and TV shows, both reviews and previews of upcoming stuff. Sci-fi’s my favorite genre, so I end up writing about that a lot. ๐
LOL. Yeah, you’re big on the sci fi alright. ๐
No problem giving folks a chance to link up. I think a lot of people who frequent these parts already know each other pretty well, but I figure this is a great chance for people to make some new connections! ๐
I’ve found some great new blogs. ๐
Cool. Very very cool. Good to hear! ๐
I work a regular full time job, but as part of The Flicksation Podcast I review/discuss over 100+ new releases a year. We also discuss film news, make DVD picks and drink on the job. We discuss all the worthy big releases, but also spend a lot of time on Indie films and things primarily on VOD.
The show is bi-weekly and comes in between 2-3 hours a pop. Find the show on iTunes or http://www.Flicksation.com . We put a lot of time, thought and effort into putting the show together. It’s a blast to record and I hope you give us a shot and get to know us.
For a glimpse of my taste, my 5 Favorite Directors:
Martin Scorsese
Darren Aronofsky
Orson Welles
Jeff Nichols
Francis Ford Coppola
Wow, you guys weigh in at 2-3 hours? Holy Smokes! How’s the feedback on that Ian? I get nervous when we go an hour 20! ๐ฏ
In other news, thanks for joining in, but dont forget, you have to click around and visit some other folks now too, ok? ๐ ๐
Going bi-weekly makes that 2-3 hours more reasonable (I think). I’m positive the runtime is daunting at the start, but becomes a bonus for those that get invested and decide they like hanging with us. It also allows for things to get a little sloppy in hour 3 at times as the drinks take effect. A plus and minus.
I love the idea of really digging into a film for 15-20 minutes and not feeling like I need to rush through. It’s no fun talking about a deep and thought provoking film and not having the time to really unravel and analyze the thing.
You have an awesome and dedicated group of readers/listeners/commenters, so I am enjoying taking a peek at their stuff and finding more people to talk film with.
Thanks for offering the site as a place to discuss. With your activity and genuine interest in what everyone has to contribute it’s no wonder the site is such a success. Congrats and you deserve it man.
Well, thank you Luigi (Lol) very nice of you to say.
I definitely enjoy talking movies with others, Im glad to see that comes across! Definitely check out a bunch of other people, Im sure you’ll find a bunch of other really cool folks to hang out with, too!
Thanks again, Ian!
There’s this site called Keith & the Movies! Some say its pretty awesome while others say the only thing it has going for it is the funky yellow popcorn logo. And there are rumors that it’s ran by some guy named (of all things). Rumors swirl about this guy reminiscent of Jay Gatsby (minus the money, wealth, mansions, fancy cars, big parties, designer clothes, and cool haircut). You can check out this amazing or mediocre site by going to:
http://keithandthemovies.com/
I’m a big fan of the popcorn logo, myself, Keith. LOL ๐
Just kidding. Hey… I’ve had your inception post open for two or three days now. I cant seem to get to it. I think I deserve half credit for having it open in a tab and WANTING to read it. What do you think? LOL
Meanwhile, congrats on your Best New Lamb nom. ๐ Nicely done, buddy! ๐
How can I gripe about that? You’ve dedicated an entire browser tab to my Inception review! I love it!!! ๐
So does that mean you know someone who looks like Carey Mulligan? You’ll have to introduce me sometime ๐
Hmmm, that’s another thing I forgot to put on my list of minuses).
Damn! ๐
BRILLIANT idea Fogs, as if you need to do anything to win the award ๐ Sorry I’m late to join the party as I was out and about all day, but I did get a chance to click on a couple of blogs I haven’t before (at least not regularly), so yeah, nice to *meet* a new blogger!
Well, I’d love it if people take their time to check out my blog FlixChatter @ http://flixchatter.net [please make it live Fogs] for reviews, commentary, classic movie spotlight, actor birthday tributes, top ten lists, movie news, trailers, etc. Basically a site for everyone who loves and likes to chat about movies ๐
Ohhhhh Ruth. Ever so modest ๐ Listen, Community Builder is gonna be a brawl. I’m telling you. You? Sati? Nick? Tyson? Cmon. You and Sati are always around, much beloved, and you both have huge commenting sections, too. Nick just got nine noms as well, I think THAT says something, no? And just about everyone has done a guest post for Tyson, and his blog is overflowing with comments too, cmon! ๐ฏ LOL
Meanwhile. Yeah. Flixchatter. It’s great people! ๐ Seriously though, all kidding aside, Best Blog noms back to back. That dont just happen by accident PEOPLE! ๐
Dude I’m not nominated for community builder ๐
Ohhhh. I %#$@ed up. LOL
I DID watch Game of Thrones 3 ep 3 last night though. Do you forgive me? LOL ๐
Oh, in case Josh hasn’t come by already, I’d like to plug his awesome site http://classicblanca.blogspot.com It’s not just classic movies, though he’s certainly knowledgeable about that genre, but he’s got great reviews, Oscar tid bits, and other unique features! Hope you and others will check it out Fogs!
Oh, yeah. Community builder is a lock for me. Right. Look at you. Plugging someone else’s blog. I see what you’re doing Ruth. Im on to you ๐
Ahah, I’m not campaigning Fogs ๐ I do think you need to check out Josh’s site.
Hahhaha. I know, I know. Too much fun to resist though. I will actually. I’m gonna make the rounds to all the nominees sooner or later. ๐
Thanks so much for the plug, Ruth! You’re too kind! ๐
Thanks for this opportunity Fogs..its very generous of you!!
Would like to share my thoughts on Life of Pi with your community.
It can be found here:
http://mostlycinema.com/2013/02/22/life-of-pi-an-atheist-perspective-2/
Hope this serves as a good introduction to my blog..
Thanks Amit! All in good fun, you know? I enjoy bringing bloggers together, you know? Its fun!
I hope people will check out your blog, but dont forget to click through some others here yourself, alright? Thanks!! ๐
Hi everybody… and especially the lovely Fogs!
I’m Abbi. My blog is called Where The Wild Things Are. Mostly because it used to be a kind of journal blog of my largely out of control 20’s. I initially set it up to keep my South African friends and family up-to-date on my life when I relocated to the UK.
It’s (a bit) more grown up now and I do a weekly film feature on a Friday called (not very cryptically) Film Friday and a Wednesday recipe. In betwween that I do occasional gig, beauty and event reviews and rants about current affairs. I
Come on over! http://wherethewildthingsare14.wordpress.com/
Heh! I get to be “The Lovely Fogs” now, huh? ๐ I should post these threads more often LOL
You’ve got to scatter some Maurice Sendak art around that place if you’re going to use that title Abbi! I’m telling you, it’s good stuff no matter what its used for! ๐
I should shouldn’t I? It was my favourite book when I was a little girl. Of course I couldn’t speak English then so my version was called ‘Die Wildewragtigs’. And you are lovely for bringing more bloggers together!
It was my pleasure! ๐
Hi there, bloggers!
On my site ‘Scribble Creatures’ I mainly blog about TV – Doctor Who and Sherlock are my favourites – but I also occasionally write about film. For instance, I have a regular feature where I select a few TV shows, books and films I’ve seen over the month and give them a short review each – my latest one can be read here: http://chalbo.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/monthly-mini-reviews-march.html.
Thanks for clicking, I hope you enjoy yourself on my blog. And thank you, Fogs, for giving us this wonderful chance to plug!
No problem Chalbo, but be sure to hold up your end of the deal, alright? I put it in caps and bold in the post – if you link drop, you have to check out others! ๐ So be sure to give some other bloggers a looksee as well!
Thanks Fogs, this is a cool idea. Very community-conscious.
Unfortunately, due to having a young baby at home, moving apartment, and moving jobs over the past few months, I’ve had little time for blogging and my blog has lain dormant for four months but I am busy writing stuff now in order to restart and relaunch forthwith.
My blog is called Wigfield’s Gibberonica – http://thegibberingwig.wordpress.com/
I blog about a mixture of movie reviews/discussions and some issue related to living in Korea. If you want the movie stuff only, that can be found here – http://thegibberingwig.wordpress.com/category/gibber-flix/
My two most viewed pieces have been a review of A Serbian Film and a list of The Top 10 Screen Villains of the 1980s, respectively.
Here – http://thegibberingwig.wordpress.com/2010/09/08/a-serbian-film/
And here – http://thegibberingwig.wordpress.com/2008/10/17/top-10-screen-villains-of-the-80s/
I think everyone here will be able to relate to issues IRL getting in the way of blogging. LOL. ๐ That damn real life! ๐
Thanks for the kind words, Dave, but its all just in good fun. No big deal.
Be sure though to check out some others. I know you’re busy, but that’s the deal here! If you want others to click through, you have to go check out a few yourself! ๐
Great posts and already some blogs on the list I had not heard of!
I’m running My Filmviews (http://www.myfilmviews.com), which offers the reader various reviews (including a lot of documentaries), a weekly question and an overview of all the roles of a specific actor or actress.
I regularly try to help out other awesome bloggers with my regular Movie Spotlight feature (Fogs, if you are interested in featuring drop me a line because I don’t think I’ve featured your blog yet).
One of my most popular series still is “The Story Behind” in which I looked at the history of movie logos (can be found here: http://www.myfilmviews.com/tag/the-story-behind/ ) which was even referenced in a Time Entertainment article and also gave me a chance to interview Michael Deas, painter of the Columbia Pictures logo.
Glad you enjoyed the idea, nice to see you pitch in! ๐
Congrats on your Best Blog a Thon nom, too, Nostra!
Thanks a lot, really happy to be nominated. Looking at the competition I think the biggest one to beat will be the Movie Alphabet blogathon…hoping I’ll get first place this year (was runner up last year).
http://time-wellspent.com is me. My blog in a nut shell? Well, it’s not going to be a very packed nut shell, but here goes… personal blog, but not overly personal (because we all hate that), lots of ramblings about films, TV, photos and whatever the crap pops into my head.
GREAT idea Fogs!
Thanks Jaina. I wish I could take more credit for it, but I stole it from 3Guys. LOL ๐ฎ They dont mind though. ๐
Great idea for a topic. In the spirit of my blog, Iโll make this short and sweet:
http://fastfilmreviews.wordpress.com/
Cheers! ๐
He doesnt call his blog “Fast Film Reviews” for nothing folks! ๐
This is aaaawesome! Found a bunch of new links to check, too. Awesome!
Anyhow, for the shameless self-promotion part: I’m Elena and run Films and Coke; haven’t been around for too long but I love writing and films and this community and I use footnotes and don’t rate films and drink a lot of Coke (hence the blog name). I liked Ruby Sparks a lot.
Glad to hear you approve, Elena! ๐
We’re all newbies sometimes, you know? Thing I’ve seen is that everyone in this nutty racket is pretty friendly though, so I’m sure you’ll lose that “havent been around for too long” feeling in no time.
Click around to some other links here and enjoy the karma as it circles back to you! ๐
Do you like things that are Awesome? Do you hate things that are Shitty? Then be sure to check out Awesomely Shitty! http://awesomelyshitty.wordpress.com/ Nobody hates more stuff than me. On second thought, don’t bother, ’tis a silly place.
LOL. It IS a silly place, that’s true. But I see through your cleverness there… that’s a movie quote, buddy. ๐ Designed to appeal to people with good sense of comedy.
lol, this has actually become overwhelming. I spent about 2 hours visiting as many blogs as I could, and still only managed to make it about halfway through. I wake up the next morning to see the comment count on this post has almost doubled overnight. What have you done, Fogs? XD
LOL I know right? ๐ Try responding to every comment, and THEN come talk to me ๐
Ah, well. Fughedabouddit. It was fun. I’m glad to see people took to it so well, even if it did keep us all pretty busy yesterday (and this morning too)
I actually got some really nice feedback from people who noticed new visitors and subscribers and whatnot, so… I’m glad I gave it a go!

Well, that’s a cool idea for a blog, Film Father! Thanks for contributing here!
Don’t forget to circle around and check out some other sites that left their links as well, too, Ok? It’s only fair! ๐
Done and done. I’m liking a lot of what I see here amongst fellow movie bloggers!
My blog is Gates Of Hell And Evil Dead, a wordy name for a wordy blog! I write very verbose (and hopefully funny) horror film reviews. They are absolutely spoilerific (but always with warnings), as I basically do a witty (again, hopefully!) scene by scene description of the entire film, with general thoughts on the horror genre, as well as a review of the film itself. Fair warning: I get quite angry and sweary about it, as horror is a genre I’m very passionate about, and as I tend to review bad films (they are more fun to write about!) this happens a fair bit.
I’ve not been doing it long, and haven’t updated in a while due to various reasons but I’m planning to dive straight back into blogland this weekend, both to write and check out as many of the sites listed here as I can! Thank you for the opportunity for some shameless plugging!

http://gatesofhellandevildead.wordpress.com/2012/11/14/dont-look-in-the-basement-review-aka-the-forgotten/
Gates of Hell and Evil Dead… hmmm…. so it’s what? A travel blog? ๐ LOL
Just kidding. Thanks for chiming in here. Remember though, you’re on your honor to check out some of the other blogs that dropped off links here, no, ok? I put it in bold and caps in the lead post on purpose!
Haha, yep the Gates Of Hell are very nice at this time of year! (It’s actually named after a lyric in the song Splattermania by The Wildhearts). I saw the bold and caps and will indeed go and visit and discover some wonderful new blogs, Going to start now, I may be some time, judging by the number of comments… ๐
Well, LOL. This thing got a little out of hand… no one would expect you to click through them ALL 8O. ๐
