The 2012 Holiday Movie Season Preview

Ok, folks, here we are! One of the major movie release seasons of the year is upon us, The Holiday Movie Season!

The Holidays started a little early this year, with “Skyfall” (undeniably a major release) opening in the first week of November. So we’re underway! Between now and the end of the year, we’ll see some of the biggest films on the 2012 docket get released, including the conclusion to the “Twilight” Saga, “The Hobbit”, and “Django Unchained”!

Brave

“Brave” is the latest offering from Walt Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios, a company that has created an incredibly strong lineage of animated films including the “Toy Story” films, “Finding Nemo”, “Wall-E”, “Up”, and many others. Which such a proud heritage, the question that everyone wonders first is not so much how good “Brave” is itself, but rather whether it it’s a worthy addition to the Pixar legacy.

The answer? Yes, absolutely. While I don’t feel it’s going to be considered one of Pixar’s best by that many people, I certainly do think they’ve put together another animated effort of extraordinarily high quality, with an abundance of soul.

Now showing on cable: “Gulliver’s Travels”

Premiering this last Saturday on HBO was 2010’s “Gulliver’s Travels”, starring Jack Black, Emily Blunt, Jason Segel Amanda Peet and Chris O’Dowd.

Did you ever prejudge a movie, only to find out you were wrong?

You know, you see the trailers and the commercials or you read the reviews, and you think, “This movie looks terrible,” but then when you actually watch it you find yourself liking it and you have to admit it’s not all that bad?

Well, you don’t have to worry about that here, “Gulliver’s Travels” is every bit the steaming pile of crap you imagine it is.
