The Croods

The Croods

Dreamworks Animation’s “The Croods” is easily the silliest, most cartoonish animated movie I’ve seen in a long time. It seemed to me to be even more squarely aimed at children than most modern animated offerings are nowadays.

Regardless, it’s fun, funny, brightly colored and spiritedly animated. It’s definitely a family friendly slice of entertainment.

It’s totally worth it to take your brood to “The Croods”.

Movies That Everyone Should See: “Superbad”

SuperBad

Fogell: Yo guys! Sup?
Seth: Fogell, where have you been, man? You almost gave me a goddamn heart attack. Let me see it. Did you pussy out or what?
Fogell: No noooo, man. I got it; it is flawless. Check it!
Evan: [examining the fake ID] Hawaii. All right, that’s good. That’s hard to trace, I guess. Wait… you changed your name to… McLovin?
Fogell: Yeah.
Evan: McLovin? What kind of a stupid name is that, Fogell? What, are you trying to be an Irish R&B singer?
Fogell: Naw, they let you pick any name you want when you get down there.
Seth: And you landed on McLovin…
Fogell: Yeah. It was between that or Muhammed.

Winter

Ok, boys and girls. The Holiday Season is over… and the Spring Season, full of mini Blockbusters, is still months away.

Between now and then lies Hollywood’s dumping ground. The Hollywood fields lie fallow in the winter, bearing little quality product. It’s the two months of the year we need to “Get through”. The Amazing Spider-Man

There’s a solid argument to be made that this is the best “Spider-Man” movie we’ve gotten yet.

I’m not sure that I’m going to be the guy to make it… but it’s immediately obvious to me that the potential is there. I can totally see it.

Spider-Man of the “Amazing” variety has a more serious tone, a great cast, and some fantastic fight scenes. It’s a first-rate summer blockbuster, a top-notch superhero movie, and well worth your ticket dollars and a trip to the theatre.

Now Showing on Cable: “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

Premiering on HBO this weekend was last year’s comedy about romance, “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

In it, Steve Carell stars as a man whose wife suddenly requests a divorce. Left depressed and disillusioned, Carell is offered advice by a local lothario (Ryan Gosling) for regaining his masculinity. Thus begins a comedy about romance, relationships and resiliency.

With an all-star cast and a fun script, “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” was a very entertaining comedy, and an easy movie to recommend to you all.

“Friends with Benefits” premiered this weekend on Starz. It’s last year’s romantic/sex comedy starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake.

Kunis plays a professional head-hunter who successfully recruits a web editor (Justin Timberlake) for GQ magazine. As she’s the only person he knows in New York, the two stay connected even after the employment contract is finalized.

Each of them have recently experienced romantic difficulties and both are frustrated with the very concept of romance. Yet they both still pine for sex…

Whatsoever shall they do?
