The World’s End

Similar to their previous collaborations with director Edgar Wright (“Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz”), “The World’s End” features Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as friends coming to the realization that they’re surrounded by hostile forces. This time out it’s robots, who have taken over the town where they and their friends went to school together.

“The World’s End” feels a bit scattershot at times, but fans will consider it part of its “charm”. It’s a film that has a bit of bittersweet nostalgia for misspent youth, a bit of railing against the conformity of the world, and plenty of sequences where middle aged men kick robotic ass.

Jack Reacher

Tom Cruise stars as Jack Reacher, a type of “only in the movies” character that’s certainly fun to watch. Reacher is an ex-Military Policeman who lives off the grid now, roaming the country and fighting injustice freelance like a one man A-Team. Smarter than the cops, and tougher than the bad guys, Reacher is a righteousness dealing machine.

Sadly, the scenario the film embroils him in leaves something to be desired, but Cruise’s Reacher manages to make an impression nonetheless.

The 2012 Holiday Movie Season Preview

Ok, folks, here we are! One of the major movie release seasons of the year is upon us, The Holiday Movie Season!

The Holidays started a little early this year, with “Skyfall” (undeniably a major release) opening in the first week of November. So we’re underway! Between now and the end of the year, we’ll see some of the biggest films on the 2012 docket get released, including the conclusion to the “Twilight” Saga, “The Hobbit”, and “Django Unchained”!

Wrath of the Titans

“Wrath of the Titans” is truly a tale “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”.

There are some really lavish special effects – at times, astonishing visual effects, seriously – but the plot is an excuse to string action sequences together, and the characters are carved of wood.

Honestly, if they didn’t come with back stories via being named after people of Greek mythology, the people in this film would have no definition whatsoever.
