The 2012 MAJOR Awards: The Best Picture Nominees

Best Picture Nominees

Alright, people. Here we go. The crème de la crème. The year’s best movies. The top ten movies of 2012.

2012 was an incredible year for movies, with an abundance of huge blockbusters that delivered on their promises, and your typical mix of Oscar worthy material in the mix as well. This list could have turned in to a top 20 with ease.

But I made the tough calls, and whittled it down to just ten.

The Top Ten Comic Book Superhero Movies

Now that the major Superhero movies of the summer are behind us, and after ranking them on (title pending), (albeit with a glaring omission, LOL) I decided to turn this month’s Top Ten list to the topic of Superhero movies. I’ll slightly differentiate from last week’s (title pending) list by specifying that these have to be based on a comic book character, how’s that? That way I don’t have to work in “The Incredibles” or “Unbreakable”, either. Let’s keep this focused.

Much like the “Western” or the “War movie”, the “Superhero movie” is currently in the midst of its run as king of the Hollywood genre offering, and it’s not likely to go away anytime soon, with all three big Superhero movies this summer pulling in massive dollars.

So let’s take a look back at the best of those that have been released so far – based on a comic book character. Here’s my list of the Top Ten Superhero Movies.

Guest Podcast Appearance!: Outside the Envelope – The Avengers

Good morning everyone!

There’s going to be a lot of “Avengers” talk here the next few days, as you KNOW Tank and I will be going over it in-depth on tomorrow’s (title pending). But I wanted to bring your attention to a podcast I was on over at Radio DearFilm, specifically about “The Avengers”.

Kai Parker of Man I Love Films were asked by host Brian Roan of DearFilm to appear on the show specifically due to the fact that he and I are both enormous comic book geeks. Well, that decision may have backfired for him, because after he had the temerity to assert that “The Avengers” was just alright, Kai and I basically beat him up for an hour…

😀 I’m not kidding, I’m gonna listen as I head in to work, but as I recall… it got ugly. LOL!

You can listen to the fireworks here! And thanks, as always, to Brian, for having us on the show. It was a lot of fun.

The Avengers

Heh heh heh. WOW! Whoooooo hooo!!

Summer blockbuster entertainment at its absolute finest. A roller coaster ride of action, comedy and great characters. A total blast.

“The Avengers” Panel – New York Comic Con 2011

Greetings again!

As promised, below are the embedded videos from last night’s panel for Marvel Studio’s “The Avengers”, one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2012.

In attendance was, Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Chris Evans (Captain America), Coby Smulders (Maria Hill), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) and Kevin Feige, the Head of Marvel Studios.

They led with the newly released trailer for the movie, then introduced the cast (including Mark Ruffalo, who was previously unannounced), and then showed an entire scene, followed by a new trailer-esque montage of unseen footage, before returning to field questions from the audience.

Click “Continue Reading” to find the videos, my description of the footage shown (you’re not allowed to record it, sorry) and my impressions of the panel!!
