Fogs’ Movie Reviews has won the 2013 Lammy Award for Best Blog!

Best Blog

Wow. 😯

It’s been an incredible week or so, here. And now there’s no ifs ands or buts left. FMR has just been awarded the Big Kahuna of the Lammys, Best Blog for 2013.

I understand that a lot of people would presume it was a foregone conclusion considering the run of success leading up to it, but in all honesty, I sweated it out to the very last second. I’m honored, grateful, stunned still, and relieved now… It’s amazing. I’m having trouble processing it.

I’m blown away by the success I’ve had this award season. It means a lot to me to see that so many people are willing to cast votes for me across the boards. I honestly had no idea I had that much support out there. THANK YOU ALL, IT’S AN INCREDIBLE HONOR!

I’m happy to put this behind us now, cause I’ve certainly been asking a lot of people these past couple of days. I know that all these posts have tested the bounds, but I think the Lammys are worth celebrating, and I just… didn’t expect to be celebrating so much! 😯 Tomorrow we’ll resume our regularly scheduled content, honest.

Congratulations also to Runner Up And So it Begins, and to all the other nominees: 3 Guys, 1 Movie, The Velvet Café, The Droid You’re Looking For, French Toast Sunday, Man I love Films, Flixchatter, Cinematic Corner and The Cinematic Katzenjammer!

Thanks also to Stevee Taylor of Cinematic Paradox (and friend 😀 ) for making a very fun presentation video (below)!

Fogs’ Movie Reviews has won the 2013 Lammy for Best Community Builder!

LammyThe Lammy parade rolls on, here at FMR, and this time, it’s an award I coveted very much… the 2013 Lammy for Best Community Builder.

The reason I hold this one in such high esteem is that it’s easy to invert the title slightly and come away with “Best Community”. It only stands to reason that the Best Community Builder would have built the Best Community, no?

And I think the commenting community here IS the best. Second to none. Week in and week out, people share their thoughts and feelings on movies here in impressive numbers. There is some really high quality movie discussion going on, whether it’s after a review about a particular film, or in a Tossin’ It Out There, about a variety of movie related subjects. I’ve gotten to know many of you through this, and it’s been a been an absolute pleasure talking movies with you all. I owe you all for this one, whether you voted or not.

This is an award I’m proud to share with everyone, I’m so grateful that you all choose to discuss movies here so regularly!! *sniff* 😥

Congratulations also go to Ruth at Flixchatter, who was runner-up, and to Jessica at The Velvet Cafe, Nick at The Cinematic Katzenjammer, and Tyson at Head in a Vice!

The presentation video (below) was done by Joel Burman, the Shepherd of the Lamb, so a big thanks to him, as well!!

Fogs’ Movie Reviews has been nominated for NINE Lammy Awards

Holy CrapThis morning, the Large Association of Movie Blogs (The Lamb) released the official list of nominees for this year’s edition of their annual movie blogging awards: The Lammys. The LAMB is the premiere movie blogging community on the internet, boasting over 1,500 member blogs. The Lammys are, accordingly, one of the highest honors in movie blogging.

Fogs’ Movie Reviews has received nominations in nine separate categories: Most Knowledgeable, Best Blogathon, Best Convention Coverage, Best Podcast, Best Running Feature, Best Reviewer, Best Community Builder, Funniest Writer and Best Blog.

For the second year in a row, it’s the most nominations received by any blog (tied this year with The Cinematic Katzenjammer, which also received nine nominations).

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to those who cast nomination votes on my behalf. It’s humbling and gratifying to receive recognition in so many various categories. If you’ll click through, I break down my qualifications for each!

For Your Consideration: Best Running Feature

Continuing my series of posts related to the 2012 Lammys, today we have the category of “Best Running Feature”, a category that I received a nomination in for my series “Movies That Everyone Should See”.

I’m really, really honored to be nominated here, as this series is my pride and joy.

I’m definitely up against some stiff competition though, with a field that includes Duke and the Movies, Rachel’s Reel Reviews, True Classics, and Cinematic Paradox.

As planned for each post in this series, I’m going to highlight what each of the nominees in the field have going on, and explain why you should consider me with your vote. Hopefully this will be enlightening for Lammy voters, no matter which way they decide, and for non-Lammies, hopefully this will help you follow along with the action as we go through these next couple of weeks!

For Your Consideration: Best Community Builder

Normally on Fridays, I like to run my “Follow Fridays” series, where I recommend another movie blog and try to briefly explain why they’re worth checking out. It’s one of the ways that I try to connect everyone, and also a way to try to support other blogger’s efforts.

So I thought today would be a good day to launch my Lammy campaigning, and lead with the category “Best Community Builder / Networking Lamb”. It kind of ties in neatly to what I’d be doing today anyways.

I think everyone here knows that here at FMR we have a great movie discussion/commenting community, but you might not all be familiar with all of the other candidates. This post will give me an opportunity to highlight the other nominees, which will be good for our Non-Lammie readers and help our eligible voter friends have a look at the category and make an informed decision…

For FMR, of course! 😀 Read on!

I’d be honored if you’d consider FMR for your Lammy Nominations!

Hey everyone, how’s it going?

The 2012 Lammys kicked off officially last night, and I wanted to make my post today an appeal to my fellow Lammies for their consideration for nominations.

I’m sure everyone knows by now that I’m a huge fan of the LAMB, and that I’ve tried to be very involved since I joined up.

I know that several Lammies frequent FMR, and that others will be stopping by to check it out due to my campaigning. Everyone knows I’m not shy about self-promoting anyways LOL, so I wanted to take some time, break down the categories that I might stand a chance in, and briefly set out some qualifications, shamelessly plug myself, and hopefully earn your nominations!! 😀

LAMBCAST!!

First off, I’d like to thank everyone here who supported me in last month’s Movie of the Month Champions contest over at the Large Association of Movie Blogs (The Lamb). With your votes, not only was “Blade Runner” victorious, but the poll recorded more votes than it ever had previously. We set the new record… I believe that just shy of 200 people wound up voting. I’m really really grateful that so many of you went out of your way to help me out by voting, and I needed to lead this post with a huge THANK YOU.

To the victor go the spoils! And in this case, that means a full podcast on one of my favorite movies of all time, Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner”. Lambcast host Dylan Fields of Man I Love Films,  Steve Honeywell of 1001Plus, Max Covill of Impassioned Cinema, and I break down the movie – what makes it great, what place it holds in cinema, what our favorite parts and characters are, what we think of the numerous different versions, a breakdown of the themes, etc. It’s a very thorough discussion, covering one of the greatest films of all time. I think it came out really well.

If you’d like to listen to this episode, you can stream it and/or download it directly to your computer here, on the Lamb’s podomatic page. You can also search for it on iTunes under the Lambcast. I hope you listen, and hope you enjoy. I know that I had a great time recording it, and look forward to being able to do more Lambcasts in the future with my fellow Lamb members!
