Here’s a new episode of the Lammy Nominated (title pending) Movie Podcast with Tank and Fogs!! 😀

Yup. The (title pending) Movie Podcast has been nominated for a 2012 Lammy for “Best Podcast” by the Large Association of Movie Blogs. LOL How sweet is that?

And I’ll tell you what, you listen to this episode, and you’re gonna know WHY in about ten seconds. LOL!!! Seriously. Tanski’s gone off the deep end a little… I’m just… watching the man work. It is… somethin’. Dont drive and listen, be sure you’re sitting down, don’t be drinking anything… ok? You’ve been warned. 😀

The Tanker and I review “Men in Black: III” and get into quite a squabble over it. We also go over “Chernobyl Diaries”, although we see much more eye to eye on that one. (Where’s the fun in that?) Then, in our feature discussion, we talk about the career of one Will Smith. That’s right, the Fresh Prince himself, Big Willie Style.

Men in Black III

The Men in Black are back, and they’re up to their old tricks. Battling aliens, zapping people’s memories, and having witty exchanges between one another. The Earth is imperiled, and this time in order to save it, Agent J (Will Smith) has to travel back in time to work with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin).

For people who are fans of the first two, this movie should deliver what you’re expecting – it’s pretty much a healthy dose of “More of the Same”.

It sets the bar for itself low, jumps over it easily, and then happily accepts the “Hey, ok,” that most audiences are bound to give it.

Tossin’ It Out There: What do YOU think of Will Smith?

“Men In Black 3” opens this weekend, and so I thought we’d turn our discussion this week to one Mr Will Smith.

“MIB:3” is his first movie in four years, so it’s only natural to wonder if he still has the kind of box office power that he’s demonstrated in the past. Smith has shown a knack for turning box office straw into gold, making massive moneymakers out of occasionally suspect films.

He began his career as a rapper and quickly earned a sitcom for himself (“The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”), which catapulted him to fame. He transitioned to the big screen with roles in such films as “Six Degrees of Separation”, “Bad Boys”, “Independence Day”, and of course, the original “Men in Black”. Smith continued to maintain his musical career throughout, and his crossover appeal helped fuel the box office success that his films enjoyed. In addition to summer blockbusters, though, Smith occasionally makes bids at “serious” roles, and in fact has earned two Oscar nominations – one for “Ali” and one for “The Pursuit of Happyness”.

Hollywood Mysteries: M Night Shyamalan (Part III: Still Falling)

By 2008, I had completely soured on M Night. “The Lady in the Water” was that bad. I honestly had no expectations of him any more, and no anticipation of his future projects. If he was atop my favorite working directors list in 2002, he was nowhere near it in 2008.

Which is why I was surprised when trailers for his next film, “The Happening” were intriguing. It was apocalyptic looking and moody, and features that great shot he got of bodies falling through the air.

What if “The Lady in the Water” were an aberration? I mean, you take that movie out, and the guy’s filmography was awesome. Three great flicks and one ok one. So maybe he just had one wild idea and he whiffed on it. I mean, even if it sucked, it was still…. unique. What if now he was pissed off over being called a hack, and this movie was his return to form? With a vengeance?

Oh my God no. No, no, no. LOL.

News Worth Sharing: Jamie Foxx signs on for “Django”

It’s official. Jamie Foxx has signed on to play the lead character in Quentin Tarantino’s next film, “Django”.

I don’t remember liking Foxx that much in anything outside of “Ray” (Which was incredible), but we’ll see how that goes this weekend, when I check out “Horrible Bosses”. Regardless, I have to say, I could NOT wrap my head around the idea of Will Smith in a Quentin Tarantino movie. For those of you who hadn’t heard, Smith was reportedly Tarantino’s first choice.
